The
International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) is a non-profit
organisation which sets out to promote the safe use of powered
access machines. They represent interests and concerns of their
members worldwide. Manufacturer’s of equipment, hire companies,
contractors and training instructors have access to a wealth of
information, resource and support.
There are over
400 IPAF training
centres throughout the world who are responsible for the
training of approximately 80,000 operatives. It’s no surprise to
learn, therefore, that the PAL (Powered Access Licence) Card is
recognised as one of the most widely accepted qualifications for
the safe use of Powered Access Equipment.
There are
three courses available:
IPAF Operator
IPAF
Demonstrator
IPAF
Instructor
IPAF have
categorised the types of equipment in common use. For example
category 3a is a self propelled scissor lift, category 3b is a
self propelled boom lift. It is important to understand the
differences when booking an IPAF Training Course. More
information on categories can be found on the IPAF website.
In the UK,
IPAF Training can be delivered on-site subject to a suitable
classroom and machine availability or at a training centre where
all facilities are provided.
