PASMA Training voted “The Best”
A meeting consisting of some of the most
experienced representatives of leading training organisations has
voted the
PASMA Training Course as representing the best value for money
training programme for safe mobile tower use.
The delegates at the meeting, held at Boss
Training’s head office in Halifax looked at a number of training
programmes and examined each one in detail.
Boss Training, who work closely with Calderdale
College, have been successfully delivering the PASMA Training
Courses for over 6 years have training centres throughout the UK.
In terms of course content, the PASMA course is
unrivalled. Drawing upon years of collective experience from members
who have helped put the course together and endorsed by the HSE it
equips all successful delegates with the knowledge and practical
experience of training to safely assemble, dismantle, move and
inspect mobile access towers.
Boss Training’s Operations Manager David Bates
commented: “The feedback that we get from candidates on the course
speaks for itself.
“All candidates are required to complete an
evaluation of their training day which we take very seriously. It
not only tells us what we’ve done well but also how we can improve.
In addition, an evaluation encourages people to comment on any other
training requirements they may have.”
Although Boss Training do offer other courses
such as IPAF Training for MEWPS and Asbestos Awareness Training, the
PASMA course is the most popular.
“We sometimes get asked to deliver in-house
courses for companies who are not going to work on construction
sites and therefore will not be requested by the MCG (Major Contract
Group) to produce evidence of PASSMA Training.
“For example, school maintenance or engineers
working in factories who need to work at height from scaffold towers
but will never be required to do so off-site.
“We would still recommend the PASMA course to
these people though as it is the only accredited course that is
recognised by the HSE and records are kept on file of all trainees.
Therefore, if we need to replace an id card for example, or check
when someone’s certificate is due to expire it takes only minutes to
find them on the system.”
PASMA are at the forefront of research and
development. Manufacturing members offer a wealth of technical
expertise and can assist in the development of new more advanced
courses.
Current best practice for the assembly of a
mobile access tower is the 3T method. This involves the operative
assembling the guardrails on the working platform above whilst
positioning himself ‘through the trapdoor’ hence 3T. This makes a
fall from height impossible whilst assembling and dismantling the
tower – an important consideration in respect of the Work at Height
Regulations.
Another option is the Advanced Guardrail. Both
methods are available for delivery on the PASMA Standard Training
Course. |
